Need a way to earn some extra cash to make it through the Halloween season? No problem! Fortunately for many, the holiday season- kicking off in October and lasting until the start of the new year- has many job opportunities that instantly open up with tasks specifically designed for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Though only lasting as long as a month or so, these jobs easily provide means for making an extra dollar, and can be really fun (and profitable) as well. For Halloween in particular, literally hundreds of jobs open up for people of all ages and experience levels to take part in.

1. Haunted House Owner/Worker – You don’t have to have the scariest, biggest, or oldest building to have a decent haunted house. Adjusting the lighting, getting the right decorations, and incorporating something new and never-before-seen will easily draw customers in, and just think how much cooler it would be to see a normal everyday house completely transformed for Halloween. People never seem to get enough of these!

2. Costume Shop Employee – There are many Halloween department stores that rent a space for the month of October to sell their products. As a result, they need as many employees as they can find to help make things run smoothly, from cashiers to tech specialists. Some places hire anywhere from 15 to 50 people during the Halloween season. Finding a job in these areas is almost a given. Feeling a little bold? If you’re good with a sewing needle, you can try your hand at custom-designing costumes for others and make a profit out of selling things hand-made by you.

3. Concession Stand Worker – Most cities have seasonal festivals and shows, which brings a lot of people to the streets. The need for concession workers rises dramatically, and if there are no openings it’s always possible to make a stand outside your street.

4. Security Detail – With the many events going on, someone’s gotta keep an eye on everything and make sure nothing actually scary happens. Venues need to up the security in order to keep the chaos at bay. Note: This job, unlike the others, may require a little experience as well as certain physical strengths. Not everyone may be cut out for this line of work, but it’s definitely worth mentioning.

5. Pumpkin Farm – Few people have ever gone through even one October without going to visit the local pumpkin patch. This is the time of year when pumpkins are in season, which draws quite a crowd. Some places even have a play area for the kids, with small rides such as trains or wagon rides on hay stacks. If you like fresh air and don’t mind the “animal” smell, this is the job for you.

There are dozens of ways to make extra money during the holiday season, but it doesn’t always have to be a pain. Find a fun, creative way to draw in customers and keep them coming back next year, and you’re well on your way to making a decent profit both now and the future.
