money keywords

“”Advertising people who ignore research are as dangerous as generals who ignore decodes of enemy signals.” (David Ogilvy)

Are you a blogger or affiliate marketer looking to discover the keywords that generate free traffic and make money online?

Then let’s skip spending countless nights figuring out what people want or what products they buy… and losing money on the latest keyword research tools… that cost more than they are worth it.

You need to learn the “proper way” of researching for key terms and phrases that pay dividends.

This article shows you how to do that (and more) for affiliate marketing success, so sit back, relax and enjoy the ride along with me…

A glimpse into the life of a Super Affiliate marketer…

If you don’t know by now, a super affiliate is the individual who has the experience and insights to recognize a good product worth promoting from a mile distance. He knows how to write affiliate products that convert, and more importantly, how to go after “money” keywords and insert embed them into his content, strategically.

A super affiliate is like a car manufacturer, except that he’s not building autos, but keyword-rich content and affiliate product reviews.

So what’s the deal with these keyword research programs like WordTracker and Google Adwords tool?

They’re essential, and worth trying, however, this article does not cover how to select keyword research tools and nor how to make use of one. I’ll leave that for another write up. What counts the most, and why you’re reading this, is that you want to know about the keywords that make money, and where to find them, correct?

What are Money Keywords

When looking after money keywords, you’re actually going after key terms and words that people type in into the search engines (Google) and search boxes (Amazon, eBay) to find products they want to buy, compare, or both.

A money keyword is also known as a “buying keyword” because it shows or hides the intention of the person actively looking for something to buy, download or access.

Examples of general money keywords:

Rent homes
Buy tea
Order CD

These are buying keywords because they include “rent”, “buy” and “order”. Yet, they are general and don’t give any clues on what is the intention of the potential buyer.

I mean, someone typing in “rent homes”, they might look to rent homes in your city, or outside your country. You never know, unless they specify that in the search box.

Examples of specific money keywords (they’re more powerful and profitable)

Rent condo in Hawaii
Buy chamomile tea
Order 50 cent Get Rich or Die Tryin’

These types of keywords tend to work best. That’s because we know with almost 100% accuracy what the potential buyer is looking for, so we can present him with the right options, which is our unique product review or product comparison chart.

Dig for the Long Tails

When looking after “money-making” keywords you don’t want to focus or optimize your content for general terms like “rent homes” or “buy flowers”. Keep your eye-balls on more specific, super targeted phrases, also called long tail keywords.

The more distinct key terms you and I type into a search box, the more interested we are in that thing or product. We know there must be a solution to our problem, want or need, thus, we type in as much as we know. Some people might not be quite clear about a particular solution yet, and they just need someone to guide them into making an informed buying decision.

Other people know what they want, yet, they feel like comparing two or more products and select the best, the cheapest, or the one that fits their particular needs, or wants (a specific feature, etc.)

Your mission as an affiliate marketer is to know your target audience inside out.

Study their challenges, in great detail. Where there’s a problem, there’s a solution. Your money keyword grabs them, and your affiliate product review gives the answer.

Some people misspell words and key terms without their intention. Google and search engines in general are getting smarter nowadays; they’re helping the searcher to avoid misspelling and get what he wants… I’m sure you’ve stumbled upon keywords suggestions before in your online search for whatever.

If you type in “make monney” (which is a misspelling), then Google will correct you and provide instant suggestions like “make money” related terms and phrases for that search.

Back in the days of the old search engines, people could tap into misspelling and optimize their content for them, profiting from the mistakes of the users. Now this opportunity is not there anymore.

Where Can We Find Money Keywords

There are a ton of places where we can find these buying keywords. Depending on your market and niche audience, you could start off your research on sites such as:

www.Google.com
www.Amazon.com
www.eBay.com

Most people who know what they want are looking for specific products (CDs, books, natural supplements) or brand names (Lexus cars, Levi Strauss jeans) and type in the product category and/or item name

Example:

  • Lexus ct200h
  • Lexus ct200h lease
  • Lexus ct200h price
  • Lexus ct200h accessories

The first keyword although it is specific it doesn’t quite give us any clues on what is the intention of the person searching for.

We start knowing the intention only after the 3rd word is typed in (notice “lease”, “price”, and “accessories”)
