With so many ‘make money online’ scams out there, it can be hard to sort the good stuff from the bad. The online world is a great place to get started making money as it can berelativelyinexpensive to get started. If you have the time, there are a ton of opportunities out there on the Internet to get started. Here are some of myfavorites:
1.) Google Adsense – More Traffic = More Money
You aren’t going to be making thousands when you first start off, but it is very simple to buy a domain and set up your own website. Always go for something that you will be interested in. There are many ‘churn and burn’ type Adsense sites out there where people make a website to make some quick money then sell these off. This isn’t something you want to get into as it is risky and the rewards can be unpredictable, especially if you are just starting out.
With Google authorship starting to play a bigger role on search results, it is best to build up an authority site, one where you have expertise on and one that you would love to write on. Remember the key here is quality content that drives traffic. More traffic = more potential to advertise in. Google Adsense makes this easy and it is available to a wide range of people.
2.) Freelancing online – Position yourself as an expert
This is probably the best way to make a large amount of money quick. Advertising on websites usually takes a long time to ramp up. In the mean time, consider selling your skills online. You might be great at editing, ESL lessons, SEO, making products to sell on Etsy, or you may decide to flip items on eBay. There are plenty of opportunities here. If you have a skill that you can sell over the Internet you’ll be able to charge a great rate if you position yourself correctly.
3.) Self publish a book
Get into writing and self publish a book. It is extremely easy to do this on sites like Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Apple. If your e-book is priced between $2.99 and $9.99 Amazon will give you a 70% share of revenue.
Many authors sell books cheaply to get their name out, while others have popular e-books in the Amazon top 100 and bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars a month.
4.) Sign up on a freelancer website
To be honest this probably isn’t going to make you a ton of money. There is just too much competition out there on Freelancer.com or Fiverr. It is however an easy way to build a portfolio and make a little money on the side if you are willing to go low on rates to compete. Check out Odesk.com, Freelancer.com and Fiverr.com to see what people are charging for certain types of jobs before you make the jump here.
Making money online isn’t easy, but if you have the time, there are plenty of opportunities out there. You may choose to go more than one route to see what sticks and what you can do long term. Good luck!
