A car is one of the larger investments we make in our lifetimes. While the financial investment required to buy a car is a significant one, a car is also an investment in other ways. Having a solid, working vehicle allows us to go to work, to attend to our friends and family, to safely travel with your family, and to rely on in case of an emergency.

Having a vehicle that works well is a big part of a driver’s peace of mind; along with their driving skills, but unfortunately, those driving skills don’t apply to everyone on the road. Whether or not you do everything in your power to avoid it, most drivers will experience an accident with their vehicles at some point in their driving career. Whether it’s a minor fender bender, or a more serious accident, having solid auto insurance will be something you will want to have in your back pocket long before that unfortunate moment occurs.

Here are three reasons you should have solid auto coverage you can trust:

1. It will save you money

Many people grumble about the added cost of auto coverage when it comes to their monthly bills, but in reality, your monthly payments are a pittance compared to what a car accident could cost you.

Every time you take your car out for a drive, you are going on the road with an incredibly expensive machine that you rely on greatly and hoping that no one or nothing will hit it. Without auto insurance, every distracted driver who bumps you at a red light or any misguided creature wandering across the road would mean huge out of pocket costs for you. Most people often forget that auto coverage isn’t just about protecting their own vehicle, but about protecting the vehicles of other drivers and of covering any health-related costs that may accrue due to an accident.

2. It will give you peace of mind

While you may be an impeccable driver; never turning incorrectly, never checking a mobile phone and never, ever cutting people off in traffic, you can be sure that not every other driver on the road is quite so safe.

While defensive driving goes a long way towards protecting yourself from distracted or downright bad drivers, sometimes accidents can’t be helped. Having good auto coverage provides you peace of mind that an unpredictable driver will not write off your car and leave you stranded and insured without a cent to your name to get you back on the road.

3. It’s usually the law

While this one might be as fun, most countries, states, and provinces do require that drivers be insured against accidents—and breaking the law every time you need to go pick up milk isn’t something we can recommend.  Since it’s often the law, getting caught driving without it can often result in some hefty fines and a loss of driving privileges.

And if you were to suffer an accident while driving without insurance? Well, we can promise you that it won’t be cheap. Not only will your car be gone and you may be liable for the damages of another vehicle, but then the fines will also get dumped on top of that. Long story short? Get the coverage to make sure you don’t end up broke, or worse.
