When it comes to saving money on your car rental, the internet holds the key. Going into an agency, or calling them up on the phone, without prior internet research usually will not yield you money-saving results; as always, it’s important to do your homework to get ahead! Cruise Agency Websites for Deals

Cancellations happen all the time, but car rental agencies still need to cover their operating costs; they do so by offering you last-minute deals. These deals are usually offered both on their own websites and are extended out to various online deal websites (discussed in the next section).

For example, Nationalhas a section of their website dedicated specifically to last minute deals that they update weekly on Tuesdays. You can browse the section, or when you make your reservation you can use coupon code #6600435.

Usually, these deals aren’t offered until a week prior to the rental date, so it’s a good idea to start doing your research just before. Try not to wait any longer, as deals will have less flexibility and more stipulations (i.e. car types available, minimum or maximum rental days, location restrictions). Every agency will be different; National’s last minute deals usually only have weekend rentals available, but will occasionally have weekday rentals that go fast!

Take Advantage of Online Deal Websites

Priceline, Hotwire, and DriveNow are all excellent online deal websites that provide car renters with options from most of the agencies. This allows you to comparison shop all of the agencies from one website and they often offer package deals with flights and hotels.

An even more attractive online deal website is Autoslash, which offers renters the ability to book a low-cost reservation that has the potential to get even less expense. If a better deal than the one you booked becomes available, Autoslash will notify you and auto-book you for the better rental deal.

Google for Car Rental eCoupons

Agencies and online deal websites are constantly trying to promote and advertise their service; often, they do this by sending coupons out to the many online coupon websites. For any online service you consider, be sure to use Google to see if any coupons for that particular service exist. You might stumble upon a 25% off coupon that you can use in conjunction with the savings you’re already receiving from your last minute rental.
