If you are looking to earn money online then you may think that the only thing to dois to start a business and a website and sell things. However, there are actually many different ways that you can do it.
Making a website is a way to make money. You can use it to sell goods and services or you can sell advertising on it to make money. This used to be a good way to make money with just a few people doing it so plenty of advertisers to choose from. These days there is a lot of competition and people are sending less on advertising on websites and more on social media. People are also buying less at the moment as money is tight for many people and they are worried about spending what they have in case they need it in the future.
It can therefore be better to try to work for other people and earn form them. This will limit the money you make as you can only get paid once for the work that you do, whereas with a website you could earn lots of money from advertising within one page, for example. However, it is less risky as you know that you will get paid compared with making a website which may not earn you anything but will have costs associated with it.
There are many places where you can look for work online. There re websites where people advertise freelance work, for example. Do make sure you are looking at genuine websites by looking at the reviews of the sites first. Then you can look at what sorts of jobs are available and apply for the ones that you think will suit you. There are people from all over the world looking for others to do jobs for them in all sorts of fields. You will find the main areas are writing, graphic design, programming and web design but there will be other things as well. Even if you do not have too many skills in these areas it is worth having a look as you never know what you might be able to do.
You will have to be prepared to accept low pay for this sort of work though. There are many people competing for these jobs and some will live in parts of the world with a low standard of living and therefore will be happy to do the work for low pay. Unless you can show that you are far more qualified to do the work, you will have to be prepared to accept low pay as well. You can forget about worker’s rights and minimum wage when working online as it is ad hic and freelance work so these rules do not apply, particularly if your employer is from a different country. However, you still have to stick to the UK law and declare what you are earning and pay tax on it if necessary, so make sure that you complete a self-assessment tax return.
