After returning to Apple in 1997. Steve Jobs has created a marketing campaign that has pictured the business philosophy the company should establish. That slogan was “Think Different”. Sounds familiar? 🙂

As part of the campaign a TV commercial has been made in two versions. One with the voice of Richard Dreyfuss which was aired at the end, and one with the voice of Steve Jobs, from which Steve has gave up.

We have prepared six quotes from Steve Jobs that can motivate you and help you Think Different, be more productive and work better:

1. ) About Design (1996.)

Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it’s really how it works. The design of the Mac wasn’t what it looked like, although that was part of it. Primarily, it was how it worked. To design something really well, you have to get it. You have to really grok what it’s all about. It takes a passionate commitment to really thoroughly understand something, chew it up, not just quickly swallow it. Most people don’t take the time to do that.

2.) About potential of employees (2008.)

My job is not to be easy on people. My job is to take these great people we have and to push them and make them even better.

3.) About focus

People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually as proud of the things we haven’t done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.

4.) About “stealing” great ideas (1996.)

Ultimately, it comes down to taste. It comes down to trying to expose yourself to the best things that humans have done and then try to bring those things into what you’re doing. Picasso had a saying: good artists copy, great artists steal. And we have always been shameless about stealing great ideas, and I think part of what made the Macintosh great was that the people working on it were musicians and poets and artists and zoologists and historians who also happened to be the best computer scientists in the world.

5.) About passion (2005.)

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.

6.) About success (2007.)

Pixar is seen by a lot of folks as an overnight success, but if you really look closely, most overnight successes took a long time
